Department Programs Overview

D'Youville College (D'Youville) offers an entry level Masters of Science (MS) degree in Occupational therapy designed for career changers holding bachelor's degrees in other disciplines. The degree program, which can be completed in three years, includes courses in occupational therapy theory and practice and six months of supervised fieldwork and research. Several levels of fieldwork education are integrated with the curriculum. Site visits orient students to the variety of services provided; Level 1 begins the application of classroom learning in a clinical setting; Level 2 consists of two full time 12 to 13 week clinical training experiences.

Applicants must complete certain prerequisite coursework prior to enrollment but will be reviewed for admittance while still completing these required courses  Clinical agreements with over 500 hospitals, school systems, rehabilitation centers, mental health clinics and community sites across the US and Canada provide a variety of fieldwork experiences  The OT program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education  Community practice placements occur in the final year and provide students the unique opportunity to explore non-traditional or specialty applications of Occupational therapy knowledge and skill

Buildings & Resources

D'Youville's 16.5 acres is ideally located on the Westside of Buffalo, New York near the Niagara River and Lake Erie. The college is a 90 minute drive to Toronto, Canada as well as a short distance from Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Syracuse. The city campus includes 10 buildings; 4 which were constructed within the past ten years. Facilities include a library, gym, student center and state of the art science labs and classrooms. The campus location offers students easy access to a variety of cultural, sports and dining experiences in the nearby downtown Buffalo entertainment venues.
