The University of Bridgeport (UB), established in 1927, offers through the College of Naturopathic Medicine an intensive 4- year Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) program. The ND program comprises166 academic and 36 clinical education credits. Naturopathic medical students study the same science courses offered in conventional medical colleges (anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, pharmacology, cardiology, radiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, physiology, pathology, immunology, dermatology, neurology, minor surgery, gynecology, lab diagnosis, clinical and physical diagnosis). In addition, they also study clinical nutrition, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, physical medicine (manipulation of spine, muscles and bones), natural childbirth, oriental medicine, counselling and stress management and minor surgery.

UB is located 55 miles from New York City in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Bridgeport is Connecticut's largest city and borders the 50-acre campus to the north; Seaside Park and Long Island Sound, with some of the finest sandy beaches between New York and Cape Cod run along the southern boundary. The sound and the park are settings for studies in marine biology and for the enjoyment of sun and recreation. The city and county provide opportunities for work-study programs with schools, government and some of the country's largest corporations.
